one more call

IMPORTANT CONCEPTS
Journal Entry 7/13/97 - Sunday - 11:00pm

Seinfeld just came on (George is babbling about the virtues of toilet paper to a woman - how it hasn't changed in his lifetime and is unlikely to change - and she's interested) and I usually watch it every Sunday night but I gotta write a little...

I talked to Spencer who told me he'd do the job for $2,000 if he gets no other offers for the dates I'm shooting the film. If he does get an offer it'll cost me $3,000. Another thousand dollars to add to the total but it's a fair deal. So we're almost in motion. I just have to call some special fx guys (Spencer recommended some guys) and see if I can actually afford them. That's the last piece of the puzzle that I haven't really found out about. If I can afford it then I'll OFFICIALLY greenlight the project and we'll be in motion. Actually I've been very worried about how I could get all that done so if I can get an expert to do that it'll be an amazing load off my mind. I only have $2,500 in the budget for guns, squibs and blood packets and $500 of that I was planning on using to rent some body parts, bones & blood. I'll find out tomorrow hopefully.

I also talked to my lawyer friend who recommended that I do in fact incorporate and can write up my legal papers for a very fair deal. Actually he hasn't read the script yet (we realized this half-way into our conversation) so I'm sending it to him tomorrow and if he likes it he'll work on it for a fair deal. He has huge ties to the music industry so hopefully he can be extremely instrumental in getting some musical talent attatched to the project if everything works out.

So I'm feeling really good now. I need to get another Producer if I can find one, a Production Manager & an AD. Then a sound guy/woman, and the rest of the crew. Then I need the rest of the cast... Much, much to do.

Jason called me today. I called him back but we missed each other. I still have to tell him I can only offer $100 a week for a per diem. I'll find out tomorrow I suppose. One more call to the special fx guy and I'll know for sure if this thing is in motion. Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I'll find out, tomorrow! It's only a day away…
